La Montecatini City Band nasce nel 2006 da un’idea di Franco Campioni, noto e stimato musicista montecatinese, affermatosi come timpanista nelle maggiori orchestre sinfoniche italiane ed internazionali e docente, per oltre vent’anni, al Conservatorio Verdi di Milano.
Amante del jazz, questa passione lo ha portato a girare il mondo e a collaborare con musicisti del calibro di Gorni Kramer, Ettore Righello, Roberto Pregadio, Mario Pezzotta, Giorgio Gaslini, Dave Brubeck, Tony Scott, Max Roach, Astor Piazzolla, Ennio Morricone ed altri ancora.
Proseguendo sulle orme del Maestro Campioni, lo scopo della band, è quello di ricreare il magico sound delle mitiche Big Band americane, nelle sue formazioni più rappresentative, come la Count Basie Orchestra, la Duke Ellington Orchestra e la Glenn Miller Orchestra, fino ad arrivare a rileggere i più interessanti brani della musica leggera italiana di Gorni Kramer, Bruno Martino, Giovanni D’Anzi, proponendo così un programma vario e ricercato.
In oltre 10 anni di attività, l’Orchestra ha sviluppato un repertorio di oltre 300 canzoni, molte delle quali cantate, ed è disponibile per concerti, incontri, feste di matrimonio, feste di compleanno, lindy-hop parties e qualsiasi altra occasione che richieda intrattenimento di qualità.

The Montecatini City Band came out in 2006 as a wish by the great Franco Campioni, a famous and beloved musician who was born in Montecatini Terme. Franco has been one of the greatest timpani player and percussion teacher at the “Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory” in Milano for over than twenty years. He travelled around the world performing with the best symphonic orchestras, and his love for jazz and swing music brought him to collaborate with great musicians as Gorni Kramer, Ettore Righello, Roberto Pregadio, Mario Pezzotta, Giorgio Gaslini, Dave Brubeck, Tony Scott, Max Roach, Astor Piazzolla, Ennio Morricone and many others.
Following to the Maestro Campioni’s wishes, the goal of the band is still to recreate the magical sound of the Big Band Era and its most representative ensembles like the Count Basie Orchestra, the Duke Ellington Orchestra and the Glenn Miller Orchestra, through an imaginary journey that leads the audience to experience also some of our best Italian’s pop music tunes composed by musicians as Gorni Kramer, Bruno Martino, Giovanni D’Anzi and others.
In more than 10 years of activity the Orchestra has developed a repertoire of more than 300 songs, many of wich are sung, and it’s avalaible for concerts, meetings, wedding parties, birthday parties, lindy-hop and dance nights, and any other occasion that demands quality entertainment.
